Reports to: Project Manager

Summary:

The Landscape Construction Foreman is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of landscape construction projects.

Job Duties:

Manage the execution of construction projects, planning labour requirements, equipment requirements and material deliveries and timing to ensure completion of job(s) within project timelines
Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or yard
● Supervise, coordinate and schedule the day to day work activities of the crew and delegate tasks to crew members accordingly
Competently operate various tools and equipment used to complete woodwork/masonry projects
Drive and operate a variety of trucks/equipment to complete a variety of job tasks ● Carry out daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles
Ensure a sequence of operations is followed according to best construction practice ● Assist, teach and coach/mentor crewmembers through the construction of walkways, fences, decks, etc.
Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings and specifications to delegate/complete work activities
Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines
Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis, including: LMN timekeeping, receipts, etc. Administrative duties make up 5 – 10% of a foreman’s job.
Comply with all company policies and regulations
Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites and yard
Ensure all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
Enforce and work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations ● Communicate with clients in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years experience in landscape construction
Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
Time management skills
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete projects
Effective and responsible use of company provided smart phone for communication and reporting

Work Conditions:

Understand, accept and agree to the job duties as outlined
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire shift
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with excellent stamina
Ability to work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold

Summary:

The Landscape Construction Lead Hand is responsible for completing a variety of jobs involving general stonework and carpentry and to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects. Job responsibilities will also require performing general labour duties when requested.

Job Duties:

Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project
Operate various hand tools, power tools, and equipment used to complete carpentry and masonry duties, including: circular saw, table saw, drills, and other tools used for measuring, cutting, fastening and drilling
Prepare layouts and build foundations
Build walls and install partitions
Lay brick, concrete blocks, stone and other similar hardscape materials to construct or repair arches, walkway, and other structures
Build patios, garden/retaining walls, and other decorative installations
Face, size, cut and lay stone
Assist in building and dismantling forms for pouring concrete
Assist in building decks and fences
Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment, building and installing platforms, scaffolding, ramps and ladders
Drive and operate a variety of trucks/equipment to complete a variety of job tasks to assist with landscape construction projects
Carry out daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles
Help coordinate work on jobsites
Load and unload materials, tools and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects
Perform preventative maintenance on tolls and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating and cleaning on a daily basis
Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings and specifications to perform work activities and calculate requirements
Supervise other workers in the absence of or at the request of the Foreman
Be equipped with appropriate PPE at all times.

Ensure any crewmembers are also equipped with appropriate PPE

Comply with all company policies and regulations
Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations

Requirements:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent (including vocational or technical training)
Minimum 2 years experience in with stone masonry, prefabricated brickwork and masonry, foundation walls, arch work and decorative masonry, or general masonry
Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
Time management skills
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete projects
Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
Speak, read and write English

Work Conditions:

Understand, accept and agree to the job duties as outlined
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire shift
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with excellent stamina and good manual dexterity
Ability to work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
