The early bird gets the tax savings! If you plan on renovating your home, it pays to start early this year. The Ontario Government is changing the tax structure on services to use HST instead of the 5% GST we have to charge now. So as of July 1, 2010, you will have to pay up to an additional 8% Ontario Sales tax on design, landscaping, construction, and other services. Happy Canada Day indeed!
The HST changeover will increase costs to you by:
- 3 to 5% on construction services
- 8% on professional design services
